My Story

Hello! My name is Sarah and I am originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Prior to starting on my journey to becoming a therapist I studied Theatre Arts. After finishing my undergraduate degree I spent a few years living abroad teaching English in South Korea. During this time I was trying my best to manage my own anxieties, panic, and insecurities. Eventually through learning to embrace my imperfections I began to realize my intrinsic self-worth. The work I do today as a therapist mirrors this journey. I hope to empower my clients to truly love themselves and embrace life fully.

My Education & Experience

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the states of Texas and Maryland. I completed my Master's degree in Counseling Psychology at Loyola University Maryland. I have had a great deal of training in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), internal family systems therapy (IFS), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and Imago Relationship Therapy (IRT).

I have worked in a multitude of settings with a diverse range of clientele. My therapy externship took place at the Care Clinic of The University of Maryland Medical Center where I provided trauma-informed care to adolescent survivors of abuse and neglect. I then went on to provide behavioral therapy at The Theodore House in Baltimore treating adults overcoming substance-abuse. I have also gained experience providing in-home psychotherapy services to individuals with Bipolar Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, and Schizophrenia.

Most recently I have spent the past several years working in a private practice setting providing counseling to adults, adolescents, and couples. I have been committed to providing inclusive and competent care to individuals of all races, religions, sexual orientations, gender identities, and ethnicities.

I possess a calm, gentle, and compassionate demeanor, and take a client-centered and process-oriented approach to establish strong and meaningful therapeutic relationships with my clients. I am incredibly passionate about helping others to realize their strengths and achieve their best possible lives.
